Slices of Life, FWA Collection- Vol. 2

The book with my first short story is finally out! You can find it on Amazon:
(though family needn't bother ordering - guess what you're getting for Christmas?)

You can find it here:  Slices of Life, FWA Collection- Volume 2

If you scroll to the end of the Amazon listing, there is even a review where I am mentioned by name. How exciting. All of the stories are so different, as are the authors. It was fun meeting those who attended the conference. It was also an honor to have my story, "The Coupon Queen," be picked as the #5 favorite by Eliot Kleinberg, who I had the pleasure of chatting with during lunch at the FWA Conference in Orlando on Friday.

The Florida Writers Association Conference was a great event, though the A/C was so cold, I'm still thawing out. Even though I didn't win a single raffle, Diane, Bonnie, and Pam made the weekend fun and worthwhile and I am sure there are characters that we met that none of us will ever forget.  Next year, watch out, I might just have a novel finished!

Now I can say that I've published something. Maybe even stretch it to "An Award Winning Author?" Nope, published is enough for now.

Is summer ever going to end?

It's not that I want time to speed up. I just need some cooler weather. Northeast Florida has been way too hot this year.My brown beast (Yoda, the chocolate Lab), doesn't understand that he can't go out and play with the Frisbee at noon unless he wants to suffer from heat stroke. He just pesters me all day long, which means I am getting NOTHING done.

Yes, I take him out early in the morning and in the evening, but now I have to fight off all of these mosquitoes that have become downright militant. Because of all of the rain we've had, the swarms of bugs are really bad. I have one of those blue, battery powered bug repellents, and I must say, it works, but only if I wave it around. It's hard to do that and walk a dog at the same time.

Just ten degrees cooler, that's all I ask.

Welcome

I am pleased to report that one of my short stories has made the cut and will be published in FWA Collection #2- A Slice of Life, as the #5 Favorite. "The Coupon Queen" is based on my many experiences standing in line at a well known national drugstore chain. The book should be out in the Fall, 2010. I'll keep you posted.
